HEALED SCARS
Wonderful to finally meet up in person with the amazing and passionate Ewelina Maria Chin of Healed Scars to finalise a most rewarding project collaboration. Our joint mission is to promote employability skills for those women who are recovering from abuse or trauma and to achieve this goal, I will be running, on the Charity’s behalf, a variety of trauma-sensitive workshops.
The sessions will be based on titles from my published series of “My Route to…” books, which are challenging, thought-provoking and also fun! They help the reader reclaim their unique talents, explore potential and reinforce the important transferable interpersonal skills. Exciting times ahead.
Healed Scars writes:
“Sheila Hamilton, amazing woman, inspirational soft skills coach, empowering leader and beautiful soul, will be supporting our ladies in their journey of rebuilding their self-confidence and becoming stronger on the local job market.”
Healed Scars (SCO SC050460) offer an empowering calendar that tells the story of 12 amazing survivors, who have turned their lives around. All profits go to the Charity.
BONNYMUIR GARDEN COMMUNITY TRUST
The aim of Bonnymuir Garden Community Trust (BGCT) is to develop and use the site of the former Bonnymuir Green Bowling Club as an asset, owned by and operated for, the benefit of the community, by creating an urban sustainability hub. I have been a volunteer for the last year, helping out in the Café, though obviously not through lockdown restrictions. Even once offering a Takeaway Service was feasible, I was happy to bring along home bakes, but not actually participate.
Now, having had my second COVID-19 vaccination, I am back to a fortnightly Saturday morning stint in the Café, usually in the kitchen helping get ready the hot food on offer!
As part of their Wellbeing Month in March 2021, I was delighted to offer a free on-line workshop on “Taking Stock” for members of this wonderful community. It covered the points made in Chapter 5 of “My Route to Navigating New Career Opportunities” and involved working through a specially drawn up worksheet
Sheila Hamilton has been a friend of mine for more years than I care to remember. She has always been a searcher for new ideas and since she started writing her My Route to…” Series of books the great ideas have simply blossomed. People today are more lost and confused that they have ever been. They are looking for support and guidance in a way that’s non-threatening. Sheila’s books are a gift for those that want to improve the soft skills that are so necessary in today’s fast paced world. The books are an easy read, filled with insightful questions and laid out in a unique and imaginative way.
Since everyone, including the Directors, attended one of the sessions Sheila carried out, I feel that team spirit has improved vastly. There is also a better understanding, within the office, of each other's different priorities, problems and pressures. We look forward to the next set of sessions.

The workshop on Presentation Skills that Sheila Hamilton did for activitymix has definitely benefited all the employees that attended. As well as useful practical advice on not just what to do, but how to do it, (telling us to speak slower would have been little use, but telling us how to make sure we spoke slower was very helpful), she also helped us gain confidence in our presentation abilities. I am sure this will improve the quality of our events from now on.
